Download & Install MongoDb in 9 Quick Steps

Welcome to the MongoDB Manual! MongoDB is an open-source, document database designed for ease of development and scaling. The Manual introduces basic steps to download & install Mongo Db.

The installers for MongoDB are available in both the 32-bit and 64-bit format. The 32-bit installers are good for development and test environments. But for production environments you should use the 64-bit installers. Otherwise, you can be limited to the amount of data that can be stored within MongoDB.

It is advisable to always use the stable release for production environments.

Now, coming to the subject of the blog, mentioned below are the steps to Dowload & Install Mongodb.

Step :- 1

Visit the below url to download Mongodb

https://www.mongodb.com/download-center#community

Step :- 2

Once the download is completed, go to the below mentioned location in your computer using COMMAND PROMPT (cmd)

C:\Program Files\MongoDB\Server\3.6\bin

Step :- 3

Immediately after the second step, Start the mongod server process using below mentioned code.

mongod.exe –dbpath “d:\mongodbdata”

Step :- 4

Open a new COMMAND PROMPT (cmd) Window & start processing further using below mentioned code.

C:\Program Files\MongoDB\Server\3.6\bin

Step :- 5

To start MongoDB, run exe.

C:\Program Files\MongoDB\Server\3.6\bin\mongod.exe

This starts the main MongoDB database process. The waiting for connections message in the console output indicates that the exeprocess is running successfully.

Depending on the security level of your system, Windows may pop up a Security Alert dialog box about blocking β€œsome features” of C:\ProgramFiles\MongoDB\Server\3.6\bin\mongod.exe from communicating on networks. All users should select Private Networks, such as my home orwork network and click Allow access.

Step :- 6

After the successful installation of Mongo Db, you can create new Database or can also switch database using “mydb” in the COMMAND PROMPT (cmd)

Step :- 7

Once you finalise the database, you can create table or insert data into the table using the below mentioned code in the COMMAND PROMPT (cmd)

db.movie.insert({“name”:”tutorials point”})

Step :- 8

To get the total number of database, use the below mentioned code in the COMMAND PROMPT (cmd)

show dbs

Step :- 9

In addition, run below code in the COMMAND PROMPT (cmd) to view the data into the table.
db.movie.find()
